Apple, Lyft, Match Group, Etsy and more analyst calls of the week

Lyft is falling behind its competition. Lackluster second-quarter guidance sent its shares reeling after the bell Thursday and the company’s earnings call did little to assuage concerns, according to a Wedbush analyst.

“Lyft’s business model faces an Everest-like uphill climb to show growth while profitable in a stark contrast to big brother Uber which is moving in the opposite direction of balanced fundamentals,” analyst Daniel Ives said in a note to clients.

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) delivered an impressive iPhone beat during its second quarter of 2023 and gave a relatively upbeat outlook going forward, as the consumer electronics giant rides out this macro storm in “Rock of Gibraltar-like fashion,” analysts at Wedbush Securities wrote in a note published on Friday.

“An uptick in China demand speaks to further share gains that Apple is seeing with iPhone 14 Pro along with higher ASPs (average selling prices) globally that we believe is now in the $900+ level giving Apple tailwinds in this market,” the analysts wrote.

Leeuwin Metals Ltd (ASX:LM1), a battery metals exploration company with projects in North America and Western Australia, has formed a technical committee with mining major Glencore PLC (LSE:GLEN).

This has been convened to advance its flagship William Lake Nickel Project in Manitoba, Canada. Glencore invested C$1.3mln into, and as a result owns 9.97% of, Leeuwin Metals.

Fiverr International shares are an attractive entry point for investors following the recent pullback on artificial intelligence (AI) concerns, according to analysts at Oppenheimer.

The analysts awarded the stock an ‘Outperform’ rating and a price target of $55. Fiverr shares were trading at about $26.44 on Thursday.

Match Group (NASDAQ:MTCH) management’s commentary was more constructive on early progress with Tinder pricing changes and the new marketing campaign which suggests a “very back-end weighted year” and investors are likely to wait for evidence of a Tinder revenue rebound before becoming more constructive, Oppenheimer analysts wrote in a note published on Thursday.

The analysts also lowered their full-year 2023 estimated revenue guidance to 5% from a 7.5% midpoint, which is 1% below Street expectations.

Etsy (NASDAQ:ETSY) shares dropped Thursday despite first-quarter expectations beats, as the online marketplace’s second-quarter guidance left something to be desired.

The company posted first-quarter revenue of $640.9 million, up 11% year-over-year and topping expectations of $622 million. Earnings were $0.53 per share, down 12% from the same period a year earlier but above projections of $0.51 per share.

Analysts at Stifel GMP have repeated their ‘Speculative Buy’ rating and C$16 price target for Patriot Battery Metals after the company provided an update from its winter drill program at its Corvette project in the James Bay region of Quebec.

They wrote in a note to clients that Patriot has reported an extension to the CV5 pegmatite cluster of 550 metres (m) to the west based on visually indicated spodumene-bearing pegmatite.

The ride-sharing company’s 1Q revenue of $8.8 billion was ahead of Wall Street’s forecast of $8.7 billion, its loss per share of $0.08 matched expectations, and its gross bookings grew 19% year-over-year to $31.4 billion.

Tribe Property Technologies’ fourth quarter results caught the attention of analysts at Stifel, who issued a Buy rating and price target of C$4.

US multistate cannabis operator Curaleaf Hldgs Inc. (CSE:CURA, OTCQX:CURLF) saw its fourth quarter revenue miss estimates after a “messy” quarter marred by retail closures and headcount reductions.

For the three-month period to end December 31, 2022, Curaleaf generated $352.5 million in revenue, a 14% increase year-over-year, but below consensus estimates of $482 million.

Destiny Pharma PLC (AIM:DEST, OTC:DTTYF)’s partnership with Sebela Pharmaceuticals for the development of NTCD-M3, Destiny’s clostridium difficile infection treatment, has increased the probability of the treatment achieving commercial success, house broker Shore Capital Markets stated on Tuesday.

Furthermore, Shore Cap believes that bringing in a suitable partner on acceptable financial and commercial terms for the XF-73 post-op infection nasal spray treatment “would further de-risk the Destiny Pharma investment case”.
