S4 Capital's Sir Martin Sorrell has successful surgery for tumour

S4 Capital PLC's (LSE:SFOR) executive chair, Sir Martin Sorrell, had successful keyhole surgery in February to remove a tumour.

In a statement, the advertising guru said he had made “excellent recovery” and that he would be having preventative treatment over the coming months.

“My doctors have advised me that during this treatment, I should be able to work as normal most of the time, fully engaging with the company and our excellent executive team, although I have also decided to reduce my travel schedule for a few weeks,” Sorrell said.

Otherwise, it is “business as usual”, he declared.

Sir Martin was founder and CEO of WPP PLC (LSE:WPP) for 33 years, building it from a £1mln ‘shell’ company in 1985 into the world’s largest advertising and marketing services company.

When he left in April 2018, WPP had a market capitalisation of over £16bn, revenues of over £15bn, profits of approximately £2bn and employed over 200,000 people in 113 countries.

Prior to that, Sir Martin was group financial director of Saatchi & Saatchi for nine years.
