Customers of Virgin Media will not get compensation for internet outages that occurred on Tuesday.
The telecommunication company, owned by Liberty Global (NASDAQ:LBTYA), is signed up to Ofcom’s automatic compensation scheme which pays out customers £9.33 per day for a total loss of service.
However, payments are only available to customers who have suffered two or more days of outages.
On early Tuesday morning, many customers began reporting technical difficulties with their internet, which Virgin Media confirmed had been resolved by 11.30 am.
However, later that day another spike in reported outages led to the Reading-based group issuing a new apology.
The company stated on Twitter: “Unfortunately we have seen a repeat of an earlier issue which is causing intermittent broadband connectivity problems for some Virgin Media customers.”
The second round of outages appeared to calm around 7.00 pm after three hours of reported disruptions, according to data from downdetector.com.
The areas where most reports had come from were London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.
Since fixing the issues last night no more problems have been reported.
