Edgewater Exploration (CVE:EDW) has expanded two near-surface gold zones on its Enchi project in Ghana, the company said Wednesday.
"This series of gold intercepts represent the best results completed by Edgewater on the Enchi project," said president and CEO George Salamis.
"We continue to intersect significant widths of gold mineralization on the Boin and Nyam structures, representing only 2 of the known 16 gold prospects on the Enchi gold project.
"Both gold zones are showing good continuity following the Bibiani Fault that hosts the Chirano Gold Mine [owned by Kinross Gold], 70km north-east of Enchi."
Significant results from the Boin Zone included 1.58 g/t gold over 24 metres; 2.91 g/t gold over 12 metres; 1.41 g/t gold over 34 metres; 1.42 g/t gold over 24 metres; and 1.39 g/t gold over 22 metres.
Meanwhile, notable results from Nyam included 2.33 g/t gold over 6 metres; 2.26 g/t gold over 3 metres; and 1.96 g/t gold over 2 metres.
First phase drilling at Nyam included 42 holes and 12 trenches, with follow-up drilling scheduled after all results are received as mineralization remains open in all directions. Early stage drilling at Boin still continues, with anomalous gold intercepts identified over a known strike length in excess of 10 kilometres.
Based on the results received from the two zones thus far, maiden resource estimates are expected to be prepared this year.
At Enchi, contracts for more than 30,000 metres of drilling have been signed for this year, which will focus on Boin, as well as the Sewum gold zone.
