Cluff Gold taps Peter Spivey as new Chief Operating Officer

Africa focused gold deposit developer Cluff Gold (AIM: CLF) has appointed a new Chief Operating Officer (COO), tapping Peter Spivey, who has held various senior positions in Indonesia, Tanzania and Senegal.

Spivey has been in the industry for 30 years, most recently serving as COO at Mineral Deposits Limited, where he was responsible for operating the Sabodala Gold Mine and Grande Cote Mineral sands projects in Senegal.

“His background and expertise in the sector and in West Africa make him a direct fit with Cluff Gold. He is a welcome addition to the Cluff Gold team and he will play a major role in our development plans,” said Chairman and Chief Executive of Cluff Gold Algy Cluff.

The company has recently commissioned the Angovia gold mine in Cote d’Ivoire, in which it owns a 90% stake, targeting an annualized production of 100,000 ounces (oz) for the mine and its 78% owned Kalsaka mine in Burkina Faso, which was commissioned four months ago.

Cluff also owns the Baomahun gold project in Sierra Leone, where it recently upped the resource estimate to 1.1Moz (million ounces).
