Leyshon Resources (LON:LRL, ASX:LRL) said it will begin testing of the ZJS6 well on the Zijinshan gas project in China this week, followed by ZJS5.
It is part of a programme to establish whether commercial flow rates can be established from the hydrocarbon pay zones it has selected.
It is also integral to the US$20mln accelerated exploration and appraisal programme of Zijinshan, which on the eastern fringes of the prolific Ordos Basin in central China.
The group is targeting a “highly prospective” and unexplored 380-square kilometre central depression area that appears to demonstrate “good continuity” with the neighbouring Sanjiaobei discovery.
Results will be reported “as they come to hand”, Leyshon said, with the initial data expected towards the end of the month.
