Forte Energy starts new round of drilling in Mauritania

Uranium explorer Forte Energy (LON:FTE ASX;FTE) has started a reverse circulation (RC) drilling programme on its A238 deposit in Mauritania as it aims to double resources at the prospect.

The programme totals over 8,200m and will test the highly prospective areas along strike in the Zednes shear zone to the northwest and the southeast of the A238 prospect identified by recent encouraging survey results.

The drilling will first test the extensions to the south of the A238 prospect, after which the the drill rig will then move to the north east, where 16 holes, totalling 2,500m are planned. The drilling programme is scheduled to be completed by mid-February 2013.

Mark Reilly, Forte’s managing director said: "The initiation of this drilling programme is key step in our efforts to better understand the highly prospective extensions to the north and south of the A238 Prospect and to work towards our wider goal of significantly building up the Company's resource base to well over 50Mlbs."

The A238 prospect currently has a 23.4Mlbs JORC-compliant resource. Forte also has the Bir En Nar project (2.06Mlbs U3O8) in Mauritania and the Firawa Project in Guinea (19.5Mlb U3O8).
