Cyprotex is a preclinical discovery/development contract research organisation with a core focus
in analysing the ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion) and pharmacokinetic properties
of potential new drugs.
Cyprotex Announces Free Access to its Database for Researchers.
Researchers will now have free online access to AIM listed Cyprotex PLC's (LON:CRX) database of the ADME and pharmacokinetic properties of marketed drugs, the company announced today.
Cyprotex provides data about potential new drugs and specialises in the preclinical ADME assessment of drug candidates.
ADME stands for absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion.
Access to the database is through the company's online visualisation tool, Cloe® Knowledge, available via Cyprotex's Cloe® Gateway online portal: www.cloegateway.com.
The firm said that Cloe® Knowledge categorises marketed drugs according to the 2009 WHO ATC/DDD drug index, which allows the database to be searchable by therapeutic area.
Cloe® Knowledge's compound property visualisation tools allow relationships between different ADME and phys-chem properties to be viewed on either 2D or 3D scatter plots, said the company.
Cyprotex CEO Dr Anthony D Baxter said: "Cyprotex believes in sharing its knowledge with the scientific community.
"Our Cloe®Knowledge database of marketed drugs has been compiled and continuously updated based on extensive literature values and data generated in our own laboratories.
"Although some of the data are already available in the public domain, often they have not been conveniently compiled, and certainly not accessible through a powerful visualisation and interpretation tool such as the one Cloe® Knowledge provides.
"We believe that free access to these data via Cloe® Knowledge will help advance drug discovery, especially within the resource-constrained academic community."
On August 20 this year, the company announced the launch of its new in vitro toxicology service and the addition of 90 square metres to its Macclesfield facility to support the new service.
This gave the site the same in vitro toxicology capabilities as those of its recently acquired research lab Apredica in Watertown, Massachusetts.
The Boston, MA based Apredica was acquired for £2.68 million in early August, giving Cyprotex an operational base in the US, the largest market for the company's combined services as well as immediate entry and credibility in the in vitro toxicology market.
