Concepta shares “invaluable” data from Chinese hospital tests of fertility product

The assessment also included a comparison with a leading home test

Concepta PLC (LON:CPT) shared some impressive results from hospital evaluations of its myLotus fertility product carried in its launch market, China.

Women at the Changhai Hospital, Shanghai, and SJZ Reproductive Hospital, Shijiazhuang, took part in ovulation and pregnancy tests.

There was 100% correlation between myLotus and laboratory blood tests for the former and 98% for the latter.

The assessment also included a comparison with a leading home test.

Better than commercial tests

This showed it is possible for women to find out when they are about to ovulate much more accurately using the Concepta product than a commercially available alternative.

“The sheer volume of patients is overloading the Chinese healthcare system and with many women classified as experiencing unexplained infertility these results give doctors the confidence to recommend that couples should use myLotus to help them increase their chances of conceiving,” said chief executive Erik Henau.

He told investors the data would be “invaluable” when talking to doctors as Concepta builds out its fertility testing channel to market via China’s hospital network.

"In many other markets, the route to market differs to that of China in that a direct-to-consumer approach is common for products such as ours,” he added.

“However, as we look to expand and launch myLotus in these additional markets, gaining medical endorsement for the product will be crucial in building consumer trust in these early stages of our brand development, as well as directly reassuring our customers of the product's capabilities.”

Henau said the company was discussing the possibility of publishing a peer-reviewed article in a medical journal in order to build its evidence base.

At 1.30pm, Concepta shares were changing hands for 7.57p, up 13% and valuing the business at £10.4mln.
