Yum Brands Inc (NYSE:YUM) saw its shares rise after the company reported third quarter earnings that beat market consensus.
The owner of fast food stores Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell, reported global same-restaurant sales growth of 3% in the quarter, beating market expectations for a rise of 1.7%.

In a statement, the company said net income from continuing operations rose to US$418mln or US$1.18 per share, up from the US$218mln or 55 US cents per share reported last year.
Excluding items, the company earned 68 US cents per share.
Revenue in the quarter came in at US$$1.44bn, up from the US$3.31bn recorded a year earlier. The company spun off its China business in November last year.
This was comfortably above market expectations for 67 US cents per share on revenue of US$1.39bn.
In early trade, its shares were up 7.33% at US$79.755.
