Range River Gold (ASX: RNG) has reported that shallow drilling at the Sarah and Ramornie North prospects at the Mt Morgans project in Western Australia has identified near surface high grade mineralisation on strike lengths of over 100m and 200m respectively.
Significant results include: 8m @ 2.7 g/t Au including 1m @ 11.98 g/t Au at Sarah; and, 4m @ 13.4 g/t Au including 1m @ 17.79 g/t Au; and, 5m @ 3.1 g/t Au at Ramornie North.
Drilling is continuing along strike at Sarah and at depth at Ramornie North. Infill drilling to be undertaken with a view to extending the current Ramornie open pit.
Rick Watsford, managing director, said "both areas were identified from historical shallow drilling overlain on recent mapping of surface expressions of potential mineralised trends."
"Shallow drilling was undertaken across the mapped structures which confirmed the interpreted mineralisation positions," he added.
The Ramornie North prospect represents an extension to the style of mineralisation seen in the Ramornie open pit operation.
The Sarah prospect is interpreted to lie on a north east trending structure which intersects a north south trending structure. The direction of this structure is commonly associated with mineralisation in the Mt Morgans area.
The Sarah mineralisation is open along strike and at depth and will be further drill tested as part of the ongoing near mine exploration program.
The Ramornie North mineralisation is open along strike to the north and at depth. Drilling is continuing along strike at Sarah with a view to testing southern extensions of the mineralisation.
Infill drilling and drilling at depth is planned in August for Ramornie North with a view to extending the open pit to the North of the current pit boundary.
The company has plans to produce 40,000 ounces per annum of gold from existing resources and has the aim of increasing production from Mt Morgans to 100,000 ounces per annum of gold within five years.
