AIM news wrap: Westminster Group, Plant Impact, Lipoxen, National Milk Records, Lo-Q, Telit Comm

Small caps also were in decline this week. The FTSE AIM 100 index lost 0.6%, while the FTSE AIM All-Share index dropped 2.8%.

Specialist security company Westminster Group (AIM: WSG) said it has again produced another solid full-year performance with a significant increase in revenues and a broadening and expanding revenue base, in line with its strategic growth plans.

National Milk Records (PLUS: NMR) has signed an agreement with Embedded Technology Solutions to distribute the Silent Herdsman, an electronic monitoring collar which effectively detects a cow's Oestrus events to enable dairy farmers to significantly improve efficiency in their reproductive operations.

Biopharmaceutical group Lipoxen (AIM: LPX) has disclosed that its chief executive and its chief financial officer have acquired a further 250,000 shares in the company at 6.95 pence and 6.83 pence per share respectively.

The Westminster Group’s (AIM: WSG) recently acquired high-end security business CTAC Ltd has won two significant new contracts worth a combined £1.02 million, just weeks after joining the specialist security group. The two prestigious new contracts see CTAC provide high-security services to bullion storage depots located in the UK.

Lo-Q Plc (AIM: LOQ) has won another new contract with the Six Flags group, to install its virtual queuing system in the ‘Six Flags America’ park in the Baltimore/Washington, DC region. Lo-Q has a strong relationship with Six Flags, and this deal brings Lo-Q’s Six Flags park installations to 11.

Telit Communications (AIM: TCM) has said its subsidiary Telit Wireless Solutions has experienced soaring demand for what it called the world's smallest GSM/GPRS module, just a year after the commercial launch of its GE865-QUAD product.

ReGen Therapeutics (AIM: RGT) has agreed an exclusive distribution deal for its Colostrinin nutritional supplement in India. The agreement represents the product’s first consumer launch into a major market, and builds on the company’s existing distribution deals.

Oxford Nutrascience Group (AIM: ONG) has filed two international patent applications covering its Chewitab delivery system as well as the novel gels, syrups and suspension systems it has developed. The company noted that the submission will cover more than 130 countries.

Lipoxen (AIM: LPX) has received positive results for two of its ImuXen proprietary candidates, one devolped as a novel influenza vaccine and the other as a malaria vaccine. Lipoxen's proprietary ImuXen technology uses lipids, natural substances found in the human body, to entrap active ingredients - like antigens - to ensure direct delivery into the appropriate cells of the immune system.

African Medical Investments (AIM: AMEI) completed the drawdown of funds under its equity line agreement with a fund managed by New York based Harbinger Capital Partners LLC, and the £2.995 million raised will be used to further advance the company's growth strategy.

In a statement ahead of today's AGM, The Stanley Gibbons Group (AIM: SGI) said its newly refurbished flagship retail premises, 399 The Strand – in the City of Westminster - is already benefiting trade. The company also highlighted a strong underlying performance with first quarter turnover up 15% on a like-for-like basis.

Plant Impact (AIM: PIM) announced results from field trials, saying its CaT and PiNT products have produced a significant increase in potato crop yields, compared to standard fertilisation and competing products, in the company’s first broad-acre crop trial programme.

TyraTech (AIM: TYR) said it is starting a fundraising to provide adequate short term working capital headroom, and it has already received expressions of interest from potential subscribers totalling approximately £1 million. The board is confident that this fundraising can be concluded shortly.

Plant Impact (AIM: PIM) told investors that its final results will be broadly in line with its expectations. The company announced that it expects to publish its preliminary results for year ended 31 March 2010, on 14 June 2010.

Specialty chemical company, BioNeutral Group Inc (OTC-BB: BONU) has landed its third development and distribution partnership this week. The company told investors that it has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with a European manufacturer of cleaning cloths and sponges, ANA Aquiline Ltd, to integrate BioNeutral's line of antimicrobial products - including Ygiene and Ogiene - into its towel products.

Marketing software specialist smartFOCUS (AIM: STF) has secured a contract from online sports nutrition company Myprotein.co.uk to deliver stronger email marketing campaigns, better understand key purchasing groups and customer behaviour, and improve marketing performance. Financial terms were not disclosed.

In a note to investors, Equity Development commented on Plant Impact’s (AIM: PIM) very good potato trial results reported earlier this week - the company’s CaT and PiNT technologies increased the number of potato’s grown by between 12.3% and 25.6%.

Westminster Group (AIM: WSG) informed investors that Newton Nominees purchased 700,000 shares – equating to 3.94% of the issued shares – on 26 April and a further 80,000 shares on 27 April.
