Fastjet to start flights to Malawi in July

Initially, flights will be Mondays and Fridays with a lowest fare of $50 plus government taxes.

Fastjet (LON:FJET) is to launch its sixth international route after being granted permission to fly to Malawi from its base in Tanzania.

Flights between Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, will commence in July with tickets to go on sale immediately.

Initially, flights will be Mondays and Fridays with a lowest fare of $50 plus government taxes.

Ed Winter, chief executive of the Africa-focused carrier, said the new flights would link two thriving commercial centres.

"Whilst we are directing much of our efforts to prepare for the planned launch of the Fastjet Zimbabwe and Fastjet Zambia airlines, we continue to work hard on growing our Tanzanian network.”
