Uttara is a senior financial journalist at Proactive. She has reported on global markets, trade and business for over twenty years from North America, Asia and Europe.
She was previously senior contributor for Forbes India based in New York where she wrote features, conducted interviews with CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and covered state visits to Washington from the White House.
Earlier, she worked as a special correspondent for six years with Agence France Presse in New Delhi, where her stories were published in The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, The Bangkok Post, The Sydney Morning Herald, and Le Monde. She also worked at Business Standard in New Delhi where she ran the OpEd section, and the Financial Times in London where she worked on the foreign news and stock market desks. She is contributing author of "Women At Work," released in 2018 by Harper's Bazaar.
Uttara earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Delhi University. She was also a recipient of the British Chevening Fellowship awarded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office and studied Journalism at the University of Westminster in London. A keen rider, Uttara enjoys show jumping and equestrian events.
