Global Energy Metals identifies strong nickel, cobalt, copper and silver showings from its sampling program at Lovelock in Nevada

Global Energy Metals Corporation revealed that it has successfully identified strong nickel, cobalt, copper, and silver showings at its Lovelock project, in the mining-friendly US state of Nevada.

The Vancouver-based company building a global portfolio of battery mineral assets said the field sampling program was completed by two geologists, with 40 samples collected over three days at Lovelock between three days in September 2022.

According to Global Energy, the samples were collected from target areas previously identified by Earthlabs Inc, formerly known as Goldspot (TSX-V:SPOT) Discoveries Corp, using geophysical, geological, and remote sensing data.

The main objective was to confirm locations of historical mining and exploration, perform an initial assessment of the proposed lithologies and structures on the property, and determine target areas for future mineral exploration.

Global Energy said it has assayed up to 26.3% copper, 0.546% cobalt, and 0.309% nickel from the sampling program at Lovelock. In addition, investors can find analytical results from eight different locations here.

The company highlighted the following:

  • Initial AI assessment resulted in the discovery of several new areas;
  • There is evidence of other mineralized zones outside the property boundary;
  • Sampled target areas produced promising results with new areas identified;
  • The results of this initial fieldwork on the project are encouraging and additional work is warranted. Roughly half of the sampled Goldspot target areas produced promising results.

According to Global Energy, the next phase of work should include detailed geologic and structural mapping of the property’s extent, and a systematic rock and soil sampling program across focused target areas delineated during the program.

The firm noted that the sampling program at Lovelock was “successful in identifying existing nickel, cobalt, copper and silver showings within the property boundaries,” as well as identifying potential mineralized trends along proposed faults and lithologic contacts.

“The northeastern extent of the property, especially along the strike length of the mineralized fault zone, will need to be visited and sampled,” said the company.

There is evidence of other mineralized zones outside the property boundary. Most of the work in the field program was focused on historical workings and on the delineated structure-contact targets identified by Goldspot. “Additional mapping and prospecting is recommended,” said the company, within and beyond the limits of the current claim boundary along the strike of the main structure to understand the controls on mineralization.

Once surface extents and detailed mapping are completed and assessed, the next phase would be to develop a drill program. Global Energy explained that the drill program would “test the depth of mineralization” at the unconformity contact, explore for mineralization not exposed at the surface and develop a structural framework of the mineralized fault systems.
