Ethernity Networks Ltd (AIM:ENET, OTCQB:ENETF) said it delivered its UEP2025 system following the receipt of a purchase order, representing an "important milestone" for the product.
Although the order is not material in value, Ethernity believes there will be “significant anticipated future commercial prospects for the product”.
UEP2025 supports extensions to ethernet networks, as well as clock sync and security over wired or wireless radio units, said the virtual network hardware specialist in a statement.
Delivered to a prominent microwave wireless customer, UEP2025 also facilitates 5G infrastructure deployment through higher bandwidth transports, faster time-to-market and lower cost to deploy, it noted.
Ethernity and the customer plan to sell the UEP2025 indoor unit as a complete system, delivered to North American wireless internet service providers (WISPs) via the customer’s large sales organisation in the US.
The customer, Ethernity said, expects WISPs to find the products attractive due to its ability to transmit higher throughput over radio ports, using existing microwave links as a backup for continuous service.
Additionally, the customer believes it can position the products as a single platform that can support various protocols and transmission options.
