The FTSE 100 is pretty steady this morning at around the 7,475 level that we’ve seen throughout the second half of the week. Activity is light on a very big day for British football, with Wales and England both in action.
Retailers got some attention as Black Friday got underway with early reports all focused on the supposedly enormous bargains on offer. Consumer watchdog Which? found last year that 86% of offers had been on sale for cheaper in the previous six months.
Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group, meanwhile, has been doing some bargain shopping of its own. The former Sports Direct has bought 250-year old Savile Row tailor Gieves & Hawkes, according to the BBC.
Elsewhere, power generator SSE has sold a 25% stake in its electricity transmission network business for £1.47bn to a Canadian pension fund.
Among the small caps, Kavango Resources said its been encouraged by a geophysics survey over a licence on the Kalahari Copper Belt in Botswana. The survey identified potential mineralisation far deeper than previously expected.
And alternative diesel fuel developer Quadrise Fuels has announced ahead of its AGM that its set to achieve commercial revenues this year.
