Valor Resources Ltd (ASX:VAL) has staked three new mineral claims covering an area of 4,397 hectares (43.97 square kilometres) adjoining its 100%-owned Surprise Creek Uranium Project in northern Saskatchewan, Canada.
The three new claims cover several historical copper and uranium occurrences, the most significant of which are the Ellis Bay, Bob Lake and Waterloo showings.

All three of these showings have significant copper results dating from the 1950s-70s, with minimal exploration undertaken from the 1980s onwards.
The showings have strong geological similarities with the copper-only mineralisation located by Valor on its existing Surprise Creek claims.
A detailed review of the historical exploration data from the newly-staked areas is currently underway.
This process will include a compilation, review and interpretation of all publicly available geological and geophysical datasets to prioritise areas for follow-up.
Valor executive chairman George Bauk said: “The newly staked claims around Uranium City cover an area that has lacked any significant exploration activity over the past 40 years.
“This area played a significant role in the commencement of uranium production in Canada, and in particular the Athabasca Basin.
“With major discoveries found on the east side of the Basin in more recent times, this area has been left behind.”

Bauk added: “Our team is working through the historical data, which includes historical drilling with significant copper results.
“This coincides with the copper mineralisation that we have previously reported on the western side of the Surprise Creek Project and what we have uncovered during this year’s field program.
“We have already identified a number of potential drill targets and, with some of the geophysical surveys we are planning to undertake over the property, we hope to identify further uranium and copper drill targets.”
