Leon, the coffee chain owned by the group that bought Asda, is to open 200 kiosks by the end of next January with 100 sited in the supermarket’s stores.
Glenn Edwards, Leon’s managing director, said: "Today’s announcement marks another milestone in our expansion programme – and shows how Leon’s coffee is fast becoming a favourite with coffee drinkers across the UK.”
Leon said the self-serve stalls will also sell coffee beans in Asda as part of the Leon Larder range, in addition to a bookstore range filled with cookbooks and a John Lewis exclusive homeware range.
Issa brothers Zuber and Mohsin founded and own the EG Group, which owns Leon as well outlets in 5,968 petrol stations and 592 standalone locations across Europe.
They bought Leon in May 2021 for £100mln and have subsequently introduced new formats such as coffee outlets, drive-throughs and smaller operations at petrol stations and Asda.
