Reunion Gold Corporation (TSX-V:RGD, OTCQB:RGDFF)’s board of directors has appointed veteran mining engineer Richard (Rick) Howes as the company’s CEO and president, effective January 1, 2023.
In a statement, the company noted Howes’ extensive operating, technical, and project development experience in both underground and open pit mines within Canada and internationally during his 39-year career in the mining industry.
Reunion Gold added that Howes had a track record for leading transformational change and operational excellence wherever he has worked, including most recently as CEO of Dundee Precious Metals until 2020.

“I am thrilled to be joining such a talented team with a tremendous track record of exploration success,” Howes commented on his appointment.
“The Oko West discovery is one of the most exciting new gold discoveries I have seen in many years and I look forward to engaging with all stakeholders to advance this world-class discovery.”
Reunion Gold executive chairman David Fennell said he was pleased to welcome Howes to the management team.
“As an experienced and successful mining executive, Rick is particularly well suited for this role,” he said.
The company said its interim CEO Carlos Bertoni would be retiring from its management team effective January 1, 2023, and he would continue to work with the company in an advisory capacity.

Reunion Gold is a leading gold explorer in the Guiana Shield in South America. In 2021, the company made an exciting new gold discovery at its Oko West project in Guyana, where to date, it has outlined continuous gold mineralization at the Kairuni zone over 2,000 meters (m) of strike and to a depth of 575m.
