Elon Musk will find replacement for Twitter CEO role eventually

Elon Musk has confirmed that he will eventually find someone to replace him as Twitter boss

Elon Musk outlined that he will eventually search for someone to replace him as Twitter boss, aiming to one day cut down on his responsibilities at the company.

Speaking on Wednesday during a court case over a US$56bn pay packet he received from Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), Musk outlined that he intends to step down as Twitter CEO in the future.

"There's an initial burst of activity needed post-acquisition to reorganize the company," he said.

"But then I expect to reduce my time at Twitter."

Tweeting later, he added: “I will continue to run Twitter until it is in a strong place, which will take some time.”

His comments follow an email to Twitter staff outlining that they will have to work “long hours at high intensity” if the company is to succeed.

After completing his US$44bn takeover of Twitter recently, Musk’s leadership has seen the company turned on its head, with thousands of staff being laid off as well as new subscription charges for verified users being introduced.

During the trial, Musk suggested he expects the organisational restructuring at Twitter to be completed this week.

Previously stating that Twitter was facing daily losses of US$4mln and could even face bankruptcy, Musk had said that he has “too much” on his plate as he attempts to turn the social media platform into a profit-making business.

Musk is CEO of multiple companies including Tesla and SpaceX and come under scrutiny from investors for being too focused on his new role at Twitter.
