Gfinity PLC (AIM:GFIN) has been named by the Saudi Pro-League (SPL) as its exclusive esports strategy development partner.
A statement from the esports company said it will start its role with immediate effect, with its first assignment bringing forward the SPL’s virtual gaming strategy.
Specifically, it will focus on grassroots’ competitions, gameplay and live experiential events, gathering input from key SPL stakeholders to create the programme.
SPL is the body charged with management and organisation of the top division of Saudi Arabian football.
"Our ambition is to make SPL a leader in the future of football gaming, to provide new products and opportunities which connect fans, engage them with SPL and share the excitement of Saudi football,” said SPL chairman Abdulaziz Alafaleq.
Gfinity said a core ambition of SPL is to strengthen its digital offering to increase fan engagement and grow a global audience through gaming.
“Gfinity will utilise its years of experience working with leading sports rights holders such as Formula 1 and the English Premier League to create a world leading structure and programme,” said Gfinitiy CEO John Clarke.
Saudi Arabian esports and gaming company Savvy Games Group recently announced a US$38bn investment strategy to establish The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a centre for esports and gaming by 2030.
