Appia Rare Earths & Uranium Corp said it has appointed Dr Irvine Annesley as its new vice-president exploration.
Annesley has served as a part-time technical advisor and consultant to the uranium company since 2016.
A former professor in economic (mining and mineral exploration) geology at École Nationale Supérieure de Géologie in Nancy, France), Annesley has over 40 years of geological mapping, global exploration, applied research, and academic teaching experience in uranium, gold, and base metals.

Appia called Annesley a “pivotal member” of the Fraser Lakes Zone B uranium-thorium-REE deposit discovery team.
His research has focused mainly on the unconformity-type uranium deposits in the Athabasca Basin of Saskatchewan and worldwide, as well as global uranium-thorium-REE deposits such as the ones found in Alces Lake, Saskatchewan.
In 2015, Annesley was co-awarded the Barlow Medal by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum in recognition of best geological paper. He received his Ph.D. degree in geology from the University of Ottawa and is a registered professional geologist in Saskatchewan.
