Macro matters: US on retail and housing market data

US policy direction could be affected by the consumer-related data

"The state of the US consumer will be front and centre for markets next week," said Deutsche Bank, with retail sales for October on Wednesday expected to see a 1.7% rebound from a flat reading in September.

"Shopping patterns will be key", they added, after last week's CPI print, while earnings from major US retailers will also be due throughout the week, including Walmart and Home Depot on Tuesday, Lowe's and Target on Wednesday and Macy's on Thursday.

Housing data in the week will include housing starts and permits on Thursday and existing home sales on Friday.

Deutsche's US economists expect a rebound from September for the former two indicators (1.450m and 1.650m, respectively) and a decline in home sales (4.61m vs 4.71m in September).

Other US data will include producer prices, industrial production, business inventories.
