Sports Direct owner Frasers Group is reportedly in advanced talks to purchase 251-year-old bespoke tailoring company, Gieves & Hawkes. The London-based tailors has faced uncertainty since its previous owners went into liquidation last year.
Elsewhere in clothing, High end retailer Joules suspended trading in its shares and says it plans to appoint administrators, after talks with potential investors have fallen through. The company’s collapse threatens 1,600 jobs.
Over in the US Elon Musk has laid off thousands of Twitter contractors who dealt with misinformation on the platform. Around 4,400 contractors have been laid off the new CEO tries to stem losses.
In small caps, Vast Resources says it has started loading for the planned mid-November concentrate sale from its Baita Plai polymetallic mine in Romania. The sale will be the largest tonnage delivery made to its offtake partner for a single month.
OndoInsurTech reported a jump in first-half revenues as it makes “good progress” towards breaking even. Revenue in the six months to 31 August 2022 grew 55% to £1mln.
And Caledonia Mining has fired up its new solar power plant at its Blanket mine in Zimbabwe. Up to now the mine has been receiving its power from ZESA, Zimbabwe's national electricity supplier.
