Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has completed a diamond drilling program designed to provide solid core of the structure and lithologies at Yidby Gold Project in Western Australia.
A recognisable feature of the Yidby project is broad gold mineralised drilling intersections with local patches of high tenor gold grades such as 44 metres at 2.77 g/t gold from 149 metres, including 3 metres at 26.5 g/t from 150 metres.
Encouragingly, the company says that the gold mineralised footprint at Yidby has increased significantly with the discovery of the Fender and Marshall prospects.
The core has been relocated to the ALS Core facility in Wangara, where it is being structurally and lithologically logged by an independent structural expert engaged from CSA Global.
Twin hole
Diamond hole YDD004 is a twin of YBRC019, it intersected a quartz run of greater than 40 metres in the same location as the gold mineralised quartz from 149 to 193 metres in drill hole YBRC019.
The hole is planned to provide orientation data on the direction and attitude of the gold-mineralised quartz and schist.
Significantly, the gold mineralisation is occurring in separate mineralised zones, covering a width of almost 500 metres across strike.
Each mineralised zone appears to display similar yet unique lithological and structural characteristics.
Structures and lithologies play vital fluid pathways and chemical roles in the precipitation of gold from mineralised fluids.
About Yidby
The Yidby Project comprises three granted exploration licences with a total area of 114 square metres and includes three prospects where significant gold mineralisation has been identified.
Yidby is a ‘blind discovery’ as the area is covered by up to 20 metres of barren transported overburden that overlies and masks the gold mineralisation.
To date, Surefire has drilled a combined 81 reverse circulation (RC) and diamond holes across 9,935 metres.
Yidby is within a north-westerly trending shear in an ultramafic lithology that has been intruded by NS-trending felsic porphyries.
