FTSE 100 hits post mini-budget highs  - Market Report

The FTSE 100 broke through the 7,400 point barrier this morning for the first time since the Liz Truss mini-budget in mid-September. The index rose despite news from the ONS this morning that the UK economy appeared to contract by 0.2% during the third quarter.

Pharma giant GSK said the second-line applications of its new ovarian cancer drug Zejula will be limited in scope.

Insurer Beazley reported 22% growth in gross premiums written during the nine months to 30 September, reaching US$3.98bln - but put the initial hit from September’s Hurricane Ian at US$120mln.

ImmuPharma’s US partner Avion has confirmed its support for a revised clinical program for lupus treatment Lupuzor, saying that it wants to broaden the collaboration between the two companies.

Powerhouse Energy has said it will be working with the University of Manchester on a new technique that extracts hydrogen from syngas.

And Construction Group Galliford Try says its operations are “performing well” and that it is trading in line with expectations. It reported 68% profit growth on revenue of £1.24bn.
