Redx Pharma starts enrolment for combination cancer study

Results from these open-label Phase 2 studies are expected in the first half of 2023.

Redx Pharma said it is starting to recruit for the combination arms of its ongoing Phase 2 clinical studies of cancer treatment RXC004 to include anti-PD1 antibodies.

In this part of the study, RXC004 will be combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic colorectal cancer (Opdivo) and biliary tract cancer (Keytruda).

Results from these open-label Phase 2 studies are expected in the first half of 2023.

The combination studies follow data from the phase 1 study that was presented at the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) Conference in Boston this week.

Lisa Anson, Redx Pharma’s chief executive, added: "The poster presented today shows RXC004 to have a manageable tolerability profile in combination with nivolumab [Opdivo] for Wnt-ligand dependent tumours, and a PK profile supporting once-daily dosing.

“We are pleased that the data support our decision to open the combination arms of the Phase 2 proof-of-concept studies to understand the potential efficacy of RXC004 in combination with PD-1 inhibitors.

“This is an exciting development, which may open up new treatment options for patients with a very poor prognosis.”

PD-1 inhibitors are drugs that restrict cancer’s capacity to ‘hide’ from the body’s own defences.
