Base Resources Limited (AIM:BSE, ASX:BSE), an African mineral sands producer, released its inaugural sustainability report assessing its performance over several years up to end-June at its Kwale operations in Kenya and its Toliara development project in Madagascar.
The company is on track to meet the majority of its targets, according to its internal self-assessment.
It recognised a few areas that require more work, including achieving its gender diversity objectives; improving government relations, notably the yet-to-be-agreed fiscal terms for the Toliara project; and reducing its emissions.
The company’s ‘Mine of the Future Project’ is identifying current and emerging technologies which can significantly reduce its carbon footprint and establish a viable pathway to its ultimate objective of net zero. The findings of this study will allow the integration of these technologies into the Toliara project's final design, it noted.
