Adidas AG said it will continue to release ‘Yeezy’ style designed shoes, despite ending its partnership with Kanye West last month.
The German sports and fashion company said it is the “sole owner” of the Yeezy design and plans on making them next year.
Last month, the company cut ties with West, who goes by the name of Ye, after the rapper made antisemitic comments.
Adidas and Ye had been working in collaboration since 2014, with the release of the “Yeezy Season 1” collection in February 2015.
In a call to discuss the group’s quarterly earnings, chief financial officer Harm Ohlmeyer said it plans to “leverage the existing inventory”.
"Adidas is the sole owner of all design rights registered to existing products," he said.
"We intend to make use of these rights as early as 2023."
Adidas released its quarterly earnings yesterday and slashed guidance as a result of the termination of its contract with Ye.
As a result, it now expects net income from operations to be around €250mln, down from the target of €500mln before the contract cancellation.
