Kromek wins US nuclear security contract; sees 45% revenue growth in first half

The repeat order from a US customer is for Kromek's D3M wearable radiation detector

Kromek Group PLC (AIM:KMK) said it has received and delivered a contract worth US$1.3mln from a US customer for its D3M wearable radiation detector.

The company also forecast 45% revenue growth for the first half of its current financial year.

The contract is a repeat order and Kromek has now delivered D3M orders worth US$2.6mln to this customer in the last six months, the radiation and bio-detection technology company said in a statement.

D3M is a personal radiation detector that helps guard against the threat of nuclear terrorism and the illicit movement of nuclear materials. It is wearable and hands-free and continuously scans for radiation with a six-times lower false alarm rate than the standard of the American National Standards Institute, the company noted.

"This repeat order affirms the strength of our nuclear radiation detection technology and highlights the growing market demand for these products,” commented Dr Arnab Basu, the chief executive of Kromek.

“It is also reflective of the strong trading that we experienced in the first half of our FY 2023 year, and we expect to report revenue growth of approximately 45% for the six months to 31 October 2022,” he added.

“This, combined with the momentum that we are seeing, particularly in the CBRN [chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence] segment, underpins the board's confidence in our prospects for the future."
