Cybersecurity junior surges on patent receipt: Proactive’s daily small cap movers

A ransomware decryption patent sparked shares of a cybersecurity junior Wednesday, plus other big percentage movers on news from the small and microcap space

Nubeva Technologies (TSXV:NBVA) shares powered 14% higher to $0.75 on Wednesday after the provider of next-generation decryption solutions announced receipt of a patent for its Session Key Intercept technology related to ransomware decryption, which detects and monitors computer encryption in real-time, retrieves session keys, and makes them available for decryption use.

Nubeva noted that the patent validates the company’s revolutionary technology and expands offerings to combat ransomware.

As well, shares of Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd (TSXV:RECO) sank 48% to $1.85 as the oil and gas company said “economic accumulations of hydrocarbons were not encountered” following drilling operations at the Makandina 8-2 well.

Surge Battery Metals Inc (TSXV:NILI), meanwhile, reported that drilling has begun on its 80% owned Hard Nickel 4 project in British Columbia. The junior explorer said three diamond drill holes are planned for a total of 900 meters of coring. Surge Battery stock moved up 5% to $0.10 following the announcement.

And, Empower Clinics Inc (CSE:EPW) shares rose 60% to $0.08, on volume of more than 4.1 million shares, Wednesday after the integrated healthcare company announced that Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has awarded a three-year contract to its wholly-owned MediSure Canada subsidiary to provide diabetes testing solutions to inmates in federal prisons.

The multi-year contract is worth an approximate total of C$1.5 million.
