BrewDog’s president and chief operating officer, David McDowall, is joining Slug & Lettuce owner Stonegate Group.
A report from Sky News, citing an industry source, said the appointment would be announced publicly later today.
McDowall is expected to step down from his current role in the first quarter of next year before joining Stonegate and replacing current chief executive Simon Longbottom.
Alongside Slug & Lettuce, Stonegate also operates and owns Be At One and Popworld and trades from 4,500 pubs across Britain.
McDowall has spent eight years at BrewDog, and his depature comes as speculation continues that the company is looking to go public.
BrewDog and its boss, James Watt, had initially planned to float in 2020, but the pandemic put paid to that.
Rumours are the operator of 100 pubs will try again next year, after 2021’s attempts were put on hold due to supply chain shortages and inflation, although those persist in the market.
Aside from the macro-conditions, boss Watt has faced a plethora of allegations, including an intimidating work culture and hiring spies to discover staff he believes were badmouthing him.
