Guild Esports is launching its own esports college

Students will be able to obtain a BTEC qualification

Teenagers will now be able to study for a BTEC in esports thanks to a pioneering new initiative by the David Beckham-backed company, Guild Esports PLC (LSE:GILD, OTCQB:GULDF).

It has teamed up with SCL Education to create the Guild College, which will provide level-two and level-three diplomas.

SCL already oversees BTEC qualifications for the Leeds United College and West Ham Foundation.

"Our pioneering course leverages Guild's position as one of Europe's leading team organisations and will furnish learners with the opportunity to obtain a level-two diploma to support their career ambitions in a fast-growing industry worth more than £1bn,” said Guild chief executive Kal Hourd.

“By getting involved in grassroots esports development in the UK, Guild will also support a pipeline of talent both in terms of the star players of tomorrow and future esports business leaders.”

The first intake is expected to be 125, and Guild will receive a "four-figure sum" for each student enrolled.
