Scancell inks licensing deal for technology that will aid development of new cancer treatment

It is teaming up with Vaccitech, which has developed a technology that will aid the manufacturing and formulation process

Scancell Holdings PLC (AIM:SCLP, OTC:SCNLF) has signed a licence agreement for a technology that provides an "elegant and effective solution" that will allow it to formulate and manufacture its latest immuno-oncology drug candidate.

Specifically, SNAPvax, developed by Vaccitech (NASDAQ:VACC) PLC, will help overcome potential "manufacturing challenges" associated with Modi-2, the second product developed using Scancell’s Moditope platform.

With help of SNAPvax, the plan is to have Modi-2 ready to go into the clinic in 2024.

“With its elegant and effective solution, the SNAPvax technology provides an excellent method for formulation of the Modi-2 vaccine,” said Scancell chief executive, professor Lindy Durrant.

“Combining this technology with our expertise will allow us to develop a rapid manufacturing process for Modi-2, with the hope that we can bring it into a Phase 1 clinical study during 2024."
