Appia Rare Earths & Uranium welcomes findings of multi-component airborne survey at North Wollaston project

Appia Rare Earths & Uranium Corp has announced the findings of a multi-component airborne geophysical survey over its North Wollaston uranium project in the eastern Athabasca basin, which will help it define drill targets.

Appia commissioned Geotech Ltd to carry out a helicopter-borne gamma-ray spectrometry and VTEM geophysical survey and the work took place between September 12 last year and January 24, 2022.

Identified were numerous electromagnetic (EM), magnetic and radiometric anomalies over the 174 square kilometre (sq km) area, the firm said, revealing further detail on the northeast-southwest oriented corridors.

These corridors represent the characteristic geophysical features of basement-hosted type uranium deposits of the eastern Athabasca Basin, such as the nearby Eagle Point uranium deposit, which is on strike to the south-south west.

"Building on our cumulative knowledge, from historical geophysical, prospecting, and drilling programs in the 1970s and 1980s, and our 2020 prospecting/sampling experience at North Wollaston, this phase of geophysics has completed Appia's needs for drillhole targeting," Tom Drivas, the CEO of Appia told investors in a statement.

"Presently, we are working on complete data integration and 3D model building to plan the next phase of detailed prospecting/sampling/geochemistry in 2023 for identifying new drill targets."

The North Wollaston project lies on the northern shores of Wollaston Lake in northern Saskatchewan.

There is significant infrastructure nearby at Cameco's Rabbit Lake uranium mill and the Eagle Point mine operations, which lie between 55 and 60 kilometres (km) to the south-southwest.

Appia says the asset straddles the western Wollaston Domain and the Wollaston-Mudjatik Transition Zone (WMTZ) and extends around 80 kilometres (km) northeast to the Manitoba border.

There is an abundance of historic uranium anomalies at the property, as well as the right geological structures/geophysical EM conductors to focus fluids and heat for depositing economic mineralization.

Appia is focused on the rare earth element (REE) and uranium sectors. It is delineating high-grade critical rare earth elements and gallium on the Alces Lake property, as well as exploring for high-grade uranium in the prolific Athabasca Basin on its Otherside, Loranger, North Wollaston, and Eastside properties.

The company holds the surface rights to exploration for 110,997 hectares (274,280 acres) in Saskatchewan and has a 100% interest in 12,545 hectares (31,000 acres), with rare earth element and uranium deposits over five mineralized zones in the Elliot Lake Camp, Ontario.
