Pantoro Ltd (ASX:PNR) has wrapped up its 2022 drilling program, ranging across 20,000 metres at the Lamboo platinum group element (PGE) deposit.
The program targeted drill coverage over roughly 8 kilometres of the prospective 20 kilometres of basal contact on Pantoro’s tenements.
Mineralised PGE intervals include a number of narrower higher-grade zones containing visible sulphide minerals.
This high-grade reef style mineralisation is geographically distinct from the previously reported wide, lower grade zones discovered at the West Limb and Edison.
Reef-style mineralisation
The recent results point to the presence of higher-grade reef style mineralisation similar to that reported in the Northern Zone in July, when rhodium and iridium were found.
In the Northern Zone, high-grade intervals including 4 metres at 2.76 g/t palladium, platinum and gold (3E) were discovered, with associated elevated rhodium and iridium assays of 4 metres at 0.143 g/t rhodium and 0.134 g/t iridium.
New PGE results are in from two kilometres south of this northern zone system in a reef containing nickel and copper sulphides that have been confirmed by hand-held XRF.
Highlights
Results returned from recent assay returns include:
- 9 metres at 2.31 g/t 3E including 5 metres at 3.24 g/t from 97 metres;
- 7 metres at 1.93 g/t 3E including 4 metres at 2.69 g/t from 94 metres;
- 14 metres at 0.84 g/t 3E including 3 metres at 1.17 g/t from 1-metre;
- 6 metres at 1.93 g/t 3E including 4 metres at 2.23 g/t from 130 metres; and
- 29 metres at 1.10 g/t 3E including 7 metres at 1.94 g/t from surface.
In addition, a review of results from an isolated historical hole on this trend suggests that the reef has the potential for a strike extent of up to 3.5 kilometres based on existing drilling, remaining open both to the north and south.
Commenting on the results, managing director Paul Cmrlec said: “The Lamboo PGE prospect continues to return excellent PGE and nickel grades, and these latest results suggest two styles of mineralisation with the very wide zones previously identified complemented by the higher-grade reef style mineralisation discovered to the north.
“The discovery of abundant visible sulphides in these high-grade zones is a welcome development. We look forward to additional assay returns.”
