CULT Food Science names Because Animals founder Joshua Errett as VP of product development, aims to expand to California

Errett has experience in commercializing cell-based consumer products and his appointment will allow CULT to expand to the Bay Area of San Francisco, California

CULT Food Science Corp (CSE:CULT, OTCQB:CULTF) said it has appointed Joshua Errett, founder of bioscience company Because Animals Inc, as vice-president of its product development team, which will allow CULT to expand to the Bay Area of San Francisco, California.

Toronto, Ontario-based CULT said Errett has experience in commercializing cell-based consumer products. He co-founded Because Animals in 2016 in the Bay Area as the world's first cultured meat pet food company, and worked as chief operating officer as well as leading finance, sales and marketing.

Because Animals operated two labs with 20 scientists working to scale cultured meat for commercial pet food, and also ran a pet food company, with products sold in Petco, Chewy and other US stores, CULT said.

CULT CEO Lejjy Gafour said Errett would be pivotal in the expansion of CULT's operations, new product development and other company efforts.

“His extensive experience in both cellular agriculture and as an experienced operator are expected to be vital in exploring new ways CULT can build value and be on the leading edge of cellular agriculture," Gafour said in a statement.

According to CULT, Errett raised US$7 million in funding for Because Animals, and received the grand prize for pet food innovation at the 2020 Petcare Innovation Awards, sponsored by Purina. He is also the inventor on record for Because Animals’ future cellular agriculture products.

Errett said the CULT platform is one of the most comprehensive in the field of cellular agriculture. "It has endless potential to impact the world's food supply and so I'm thrilled to be a part of it," he added.

CULT said it aims to expand its operations to the Silicon Valley region of California.

CULT Food Science is an investment platform with a focus on cellular agriculture that is advancing the development of novel technologies to provide a sustainable, environmental, and ethical solution to the global factory farming crisis.
