Soaring energy costs and food price inflation are putting up to a third of hospitality businesses at risk, according to a new report from its leading trade body.
UKHospitality’s survey found 35% of respondents believe that they will be operating at a loss as 2022 closes with 77% witnessing a decrease in drinking or eating out.
Current levels of government support will not be enough to save many venues with business confidence at levels barely above the level of the pandemic.
Share prices for Mitchells and Butlers PLC rose by 3.58% and JD Wetherspoon PLC (LSE:JDW) rose 2.29%.
