Apollo Minerals Ltd (ASX:AON) materially increased the size of the Kroussou Zinc-Lead Project in Gabon and unearthed high-grade mineralisation up to 40% zinc-lead in regional drilling during the September quarter, underscoring the project’s high exploration potential.
The TP13 target was a standout with multiple drill holes confirming a major, high-grade mineralised structure in the area. Results of interest include:
- 40.0% zinc-lead over 3.5 metres from 3.5 metres depth within a broader 6.0 metres at 18.0% zinc-lead;
- 10.0% zinc-lead over 4.4 metres from 37.4 metres within a broader zone of 8.7 metres at 6.0% zinc-lead; and
- 8.6% zinc-lead over 4.0 metres from 27.7 metres within a broader zone of 6.2 metres at 5.9% zinc-lead.
The system at TP13 remains untested to the north and south, believed to be structurally related to other mineralisation on the province-scale Kroussou, which boasts 135 kilometres of prospective geological contacts.
AON intends to apply regional targeting methodology based on the data gained from TP13. Apollo has flagged a set of gossans 200 metres to the east and 1.3 kilometres to the north of TP13 as priority targets for the next phase of regional exploration.
The company is generating a conceptual exploration target for the project, expected to be released in the next quarter.
Kroussou tenure expands 140%
During the quarter Apollo opted to double down on Kroussou, securing the Keri exploration permit and adding 1,377 square kilometres to the project.
Keri extends Kroussou into the western basin region in Gabon, an area known to host large-scale, Mississippi Valley-Type mineralisation.
Historical records highlight the potential for several new zinc-lead mineralisation prospects across 55 kilometres of prospective strike to the north, extending the existing 80 kilometres of prospective strike length at Kroussou to about 135 kilometres.
Apart from high potential for zinc-lead mineralisation, Keri also holds the historical Salane Gold prospect, which produced about 5,000 ounces of gold in small-scale mining in the mid-1900s.
