Galliford Try announces contract worth £65mln

The contract, awarded by JDR Cable Systems, is to build a new factory in Blyth, Northumberland, which will produce undersea cabling

Galliford Try Holdings PLC (LSE:GFRD) said it has been awarded a £65mln contract by JDR Cable Systems to build a new factory for the company, which is part of the TFK Group.

JDR’s new facility in Blyth, Northumberland, will produce undersea cabling designed to connect offshore electricity generators to the mainland and is set to cover 69,000 square metres in area.

In a statement, Galliford Try CEO, Bill Hocking commented: "We are delighted to be part of this fantastic project, which adds to our excellent portfolio of work in the North East, and also helps the UK towards energy security and its net zero carbon targets.

"We look forward to working with JDR to provide them with a first-class facility that assists them in achieving their ambitions."
