Biotech junior powers higher on M&A talk: Proactive’s daily small cap movers

A potential company sale boosted shares of a biotechnology research and development firm Monday, plus other big percentage movers on news from the small and microcap space

4:05pm: United Lithium adds to gains, Calibre Mining stock drops

Core One Labs Inc (CSE:COOL) shares continued to move higher Monday, up 6% to close at $1.01, following a 13% gain on Friday, after the biotechnology research and development company announced that it is taking all necessary steps to prepare to put itself up for sale, saying its “track record and outlook is appealing to many majors in the pharmaceutical and psychedelics market space”.

As well, shares of LexaGene Holdings, Inc (TSXV:LXG) jumped as much as 28% before ending up 4% to $0.24 as the molecular diagnostics company said it has entered into a secured convertible note agreement with Meridian LGH Holdings 2, LLC, an affiliate of a company insider, in the principal amount of up to US$1.6 million at a conversion price of C$0.23 per share.

Patriot One Technologies Inc (TSX:PAT) stock, meanwhile, continued to advance Monday, up 10% to $0.52 following a 7% gain on Friday, after the provider of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven weapons and threat detection systems reported fiscal 2022 revenue that soared 235% to C$3.6 million, while adding that the company continued to build the contractual backlog to C$2.2 million, with a further $1.9 million pending installation or successful trials that will be recognized as revenue in future periods.

In addition, shares of Calibre Mining Corp (TSX:CXB) sank 21% to $0.78 following a media report that the Biden administration is ramping up pressure on Nicaragua president Daniel Ortega’s authoritarian rule, threatening a ban on Americans from doing business in the nation’s gold industry. Calibre owns operating gold mines in that country.

And, United Lithium Corp (CSE:ULTH) shares rose 10% to $0.265 after the lithium explorer and project developer announced that it staked an additional 200 unpatented lode claims, increasing its land position at the Liberty lithium project in South Dakota by more than 6.5 square miles.

11:45am: Core One Labs, LexaGene advance sharply

Core One Labs Inc (CSE:COOL) shares continued to move higher Monday, up 10% to $1.04 following a 13% gain on Friday, after the biotechnology research and development company announced that it is taking all necessary steps to prepare to put itself up for sale, saying its “track record and outlook is appealing to many majors in the pharmaceutical and psychedelics market space”.

As well, shares of LexaGene Holdings, Inc (TSXV:LXG) jumped 28% to $0.295 as the molecular diagnostics company said it has entered into a secured convertible note agreement with Meridian LGH Holdings 2, LLC, an affiliate of a company insider, in the principal amount of up to US$1.6 million at a conversion price of C$0.23 per share.
