Never a better time to be proactive about cancer testing, says Goodbody Health

Goodbody Hereditary Cancer Genetic Tests are "an excellent way" to identify risks and monitor health.

Goodbody Health Ltd (AQSE:GDBY, OTCQB:GDBYF) chief executive Marc Howells has urged Britons to better understand their potential hereditary cancer risks.

Howells, reacting to reports that a former UK cancer tsar described the NHS screening as a ‘late diagnosis service’ and that the country is languishing near the bottom of cancer diagnosis league tables.

The UK is now one of the worst places in the western world to get cancer according to “nearly every metric”, a report in The Times said.

Recent data, highlighted by The Times indicated there were 38,421 fewer cancers diagnosed compared with 2019 because patients were not referred for checks or they did not seek help. Meanwhile, the NHS is faced with a significant post-COVID backlog of referrals.

Goodbody Health is among a number of health diagnostic firms that provide blood testing which can reveal pre-existing risks for certain cancers.

“With the pressures placed on the NHS, who are now operating a ’late diagnosis service’ for cancer, there has never been a better time to start looking after our health starting with general self-care before symptoms appear through our blood testing services,” Howells said.

“Tests such as our Goodbody Hereditary Cancer Genetic Tests, which are DNA tests which determine whether you have a genetic mutation which makes you prone to developing cancer, are an excellent way you can identify your risks and monitor your health while considering lifestyle changes to reduce those risks.”
