Critical Resources hits 18.45 metres at 2.06% lithium as Mavis Lake continues to deliver

“With the excellent results of the last few months, mineral resource estimate works underway and drilling continuing at Mavis Lake, we are extremely pleased with how the project is progressing as we move from exploration into development,”

Critical Resources Ltd (ASX:CRR) has fielded further impressive assay results from its diamond core drilling campaign at the Mavis Lake Lithium Project in Canada.

The results confirm high-grade, near-surface lithium mineralisation with sections of “exceptionally” high-grade mineralisation, including 18.45 metres at 2.06% lithium oxide from 46 metres.

Vertical cross section, looking west, of projected and intersected spodumene-bearing pegmatites including drill holes MF22-121 and MF22-122.

Exceptional intersections

Drill hole MF22-121 returned 20.8 metres at 1.92% lithium oxide (Li2O) from 45.25 metres including the 18.45-metre intersection that included 1.5 metres at 3.49% from 53.6 metres. It also returned 5.3 metres at 2.06% Li2O from 98 metres.

Assays from drill hole MF22-123 confirmed 6.2 metres at 2.15% Li2O from 50.9 metres, including:

  • 0.55 metres at 4.0% from 52.3 metres; and
  • 3.0 metres at 2.92% from 52.85 metres.

The results illustrate the continuity of high-grade lithium mineralisation within the Main Zone of Mavis Lake.

CRR managing director Alex Cheeseman said: “Discovering further high-grade intercepts with sections of extremely high-grade lithium mineralisation is very pleasing.

“In addition, these intercepts are relatively close to surface, with the main zone remaining open at depth, which we are yet to test.

“With the excellent results of the last few months, mineral resource estimate works underway and drilling continuing at Mavis Lake, we are extremely pleased with how the project is progressing as we move from exploration into development.”

All these new results will be incorporated into the maiden mineral resource estimate due in the first quarter of 2023.

Future works

Drilling continues at Mavis Lake and will test the continuity of known spodumene-bearing pegmatites both along strike and down dip of known intersections.

The success of the program to date has compelled the company to approve a further 2,500-metre drilling extension, taking the planned program to 17,500 metres.

The consistently high-grade lithium mineralisation seen over multiple intersections throughout the 2022 drilling program has only served to increase the company’s confidence in a high-quality lithium deposit at Mavis Lake.

Having only drilled a small portion of the prospect, the company has submitted additional permits to test its full extent.

Further assay results are pending and the company will keep the market informed as they become available.
