Japan Gold offers promising update on drilling at Ikutahara project prospect sites

Ddrilling is underway at the east side of the Kitano-o prospect, where two of the company's PMC700 drill rigs are currently operating

Japan Gold (TSX-V:JG) Corp has issued an exploration update regarding three prospects at its Ikutahara project in Hokkaido, Japan

First, at the Ryuo prospect, the company has planned two additional drill holes for late 2022 designed to follow up on high-grade gold drill intercepts from 2021.

Previous drilling there has tested beneath five areas of workings prior to a government-imposed closure in 1943, and sampling revealed high-grade gold-silver mineralization over a 72-meter strike length with an average grade of 40.8 grams per ton of gold and 193 grams per ton of silver.

Meanwhile, at the Saroma prospect, four drill holes were initially planned to test a one kilometre (km) strike length and all four intersected significant quartz vein zones up to eight metres (m) wide of banded and brecciated chalcedonic quartz with ginguro banding, the company said.

From there, an additional two holes were completed to test the continuity of the vein zones to depth, and those holes also intersected significant quartz vein zones with similarly low-temperature chalcedonic textures indicating good preservation of the vein system. The six drill holes comprise a total of 1,308.8 m, and sampling results are expected by early December.

Elsewhere, drilling is underway at the east side of the Kitano-o prospect, where two of the company's PMC700 drill rigs are currently operating. One of three planned deep drill-holes has been completed and the other two are in progress and expected to be completed by early November.

The initial three scout drill holes are targeting combined geochemical and geophysical anomalies below historic workings and adjacent to major graben and rhyolite dome structures proximal to the Cretaceous basement interface, the company said.

Soil sampling programs are also ongoing at the Ikutahara Project to extend soil grids along the graben-margin north and south of the Kitano-o prospect and over extensions of the alteration zone at the Ryuo prospect, Japan Gold (TSX-V:JG) noted.

Japan Gold is focused on gold exploration across the three largest islands of Japan: Hokkaido, Honshu, and Kyushu. It has a country-wide alliance with Barrick Gold to jointly explore and mine certain gold mineral properties.
