VolitionRX inks global agreement to provide Nu.Q cancer detection test to veterinarians

A peer-reviewed clinical study showed the Nu.Q blood test detected 76% of systemic cancers in animals

VolitionRx (NYSE-A:VNRX) said it has signed a global agreement with a market leader in pet healthcare to supply its Nu.Q Vet Cancer Test to veterinarians.

According to VolitionRx (NYSE-A:VNRX), there are approximately 84 million pet dogs in the US. Just under 50% of those dogs will make at least one visit to the vet each year. Volition said this provides a good opportunity to screen senior dogs aged seven years and above as well as breeds at risk of cancer from four years on.

Dr Tom Butera, CEO of Volition Veterinary Diagnostics Development, said the Nu.Q Vet Cancer Test was developed to provide an accessible and affordable screening test to aid early detection.

“This supply agreement is an exciting moment for Volition as we continue to commercialize our Nu.Q technology within the companion animal healthcare sector and capitalize on what we believe to be significant mass market opportunities,” Butera said in a statement.

Butera added that estimated dates for test availability would be shared in the coming months.

A peer-reviewed clinical study by Volition and professor Heather Wilson-Robles from Texas A&M University, published in August 2022, showed the Nu.Q Vet Cancer Test detected 76% of systemic cancers – including lymphoma, hemangiosarcoma, and histiocytic sarcoma – at 97% specificity versus control, the company said.

The epigenetics company said it is developing simple, easy-to-use, cost-effective blood tests to help diagnose and monitor a range of life-altering diseases including cancer in both humans and animals.

Volition's research and development activities are centred in Belgium, with an innovation laboratory and office in the US and additional offices in London and Singapore.
