Carnavale Resources extends McTavish East high-grade gold zone in diamond drilling campaign

“CAV plans to further develop McTavish East with reverse circulation drilling targeting the high-grade shoots within the main mineralising structure,” said CEO Humphrey Hale.

Carnavale Resources Ltd (ASX:CAV) has extended a major gold structure 50 metres down dip thanks to the latest diamond drilling program at the Kookynie Gold Project’s McTavish East target in WA.

The gold explorer recently drilled three diamond tails for 490 metres at McTavish East, aiming to test for depth extensions and provide detailed geological information to inform its next steps.

Some of the best intersections include:

  • 0.7 metres at 10.14 g/t gold from 265.7 metres, including 0.5 metres at 13.35 g/t;
  • 1-metre at 3.02 g/t from 140 metres;
  • 2 metres at 4.32 g/t from 217 metres, including 1-metre at 8.33 g/t;
  • 1.7 metres at 2.16 g/t from 270 metres;
  • 1.8 metres at 1.73 g/t from 235 metres, including 1-metre at 2.89 g/t;
  • 1-metre at 1.94 g/t from 239 metres; and
  • 4.2 metres at 0.55 g/t from 243 metres, including 1-metre at 1.59 g/t.

Work to date indicates McTavish East strikes over 700 metres and has been defined to a depth of more than 250 metres vertically. The zone remains open at depth and along strike.

More RC drilling on the cards

Carnavale CEO Humphrey Hale said: “The recent diamond tail drilling program at McTavish East has successfully provided CAV with important density, metallurgical and structural detail to progress the development at McTavish East.

“In addition, the drilling has extended the major mineralised structure down dip by a further 50 metres with the mineralisation unconstrained at depth.

“CAV plans to further develop McTavish East with reverse circulation (RC) drilling targeting the high-grade shoots within the main mineralising structure.”

Prospecting for gold at McTavish East

Carnavale has confirmed McTavish East’s gold prospectivity thanks to previous aircore and RC drilling along 700 metres of strike.

Recent exploration defined a high-grade lode in fresh rock — measuring 500 metres in strike and 250 metres vertically within the broader mineralised envelope.

This high-grade lode is where Carnavale targeted the diamond tails, extending the down-dip extensions to the high-grade zone.

Moving ahead, CAV’s work program at Kookynie includes:

  • RC drilling at depth and along strike from the shallow high-grade gold mineralisation defined by the recent aircore drilling;
  • Growing resources and reserves to provide an asset base; and
  • Identifying additional targets within the Kookynie tenement package.
