Love Pharma says subsidiary MicroDoz Therapy’s sponsored trial at Johns Hopkins University on track for 2022 launch

The pilot trial will serve as a foundation to advance the research to larger-scale trials and drive future licensing and commercializing opportunities, according to Love Pharma

Love Pharma (CSE:LUV) Co said its wholly-owned subsidiary MicroDoz Therapy’s sponsored trial testing the effectiveness of psilocybin in cannabis use disorder to be conducted at the Johns Hopkins Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research is advancing toward launch later in 2022.

The company’s proposed study timeline has final regulatory approval and the hiring of a study coordinator set for October to November, initial patient recruitment slated for December to January, and patient treatment completed by 1Q, 2024, with follow-ups in 2Q and 3Q, 2024.

The study will be led by Dr. Albert Garcia-Romeu, a member of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he studies the effects of psychedelic drugs in humans, with a focus on psilocybin as an aid in the treatment of addiction.

According to Love, the pilot trial will serve as a foundation to advance the research to larger-scale trials and drive future licensing and commercializing opportunities.

"Since acquiring MicroDoz, the Love team has worked diligently to design and prepare to launch this comprehensive study relating to the potential of psilocybin-assisted treatment for cannabis use disorder, and we are excited to advance this initiative.”
