Kavango Resources says initial results 'encouraging' from CSAMT surveys over PL082/2018 licence in KCB

The Controlled-Source Audio Magnetotelluric (CSAMT) surveys highlighted a very sharp steeply dipping geological structure/deformation zone within the licence area

Kavango Resources PLC (LSE:KAV, OTC:KVGOF) has said initial results are “encouraging” from CSAMT electromagnetic surveys over its PL082/2018 licence in the Kalahari Copper Belt (KCB) in Botswana.

The Controlled-Source Audio Magnetotelluric (CSAMT) surveys provided high-quality data down to a depth of 4 kilometres, far exceeding expectations, and highlighted a very sharp steeply dipping geological structure/deformation zone within the licence area, the company said.

Kavango noted that it is the first company in the KCB to deploy CSAMT and that the technology could prove to be a highly powerful exploration tool in the region.

"One of Kavango's competitive edges is our commitment to trialling modern remote sensing technology across our portfolio,” said Kavango chief executive Ben Turney in a statement. “The outcome is often unpredictable, but the upside can be significant.”

“From what we've seen of the results so far from our CSAMT surveys over PL082, this technology has potential to become transformational for exploration in the Kalahari Copper Belt.

“With the drill rig in the field, we now have a perfect opportunity to test our geophysics against physical geology," he added.
