The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) said it has pushed back the release date of a number of blockbuster titles, mostly the next batch of films in its Marvel comic franchises.
Vampire flick, Blade, starring Mahershala Ali is now scheduled for release on September 6, 2024, or around ten months later than originally planned, with Disney looking for a new director.
Deadpool three has been pushed back a couple of months to November 2024, with the next in the Fantastic Four series now slated for 2025, and a new Avengers film, Secret Wars, pencilled in for 2026.
Disney’s next big Marvel-based production Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is due to hit screens next month, on November 11.
Streaming service Disney+ recently overtook major rival Netflix in terms of the number of subscribers, helped by franchise content such as Marvel and Star Wars.
Shares in the theme park and entertainment group have been lagging, however, due to concerns that demand for streaming might be waning and amid the cost of continuing to produce top content.
Over the past twelve months, the Disney share price has dropped by almost 50% to around US$93.
